I knew from the moment I got on phone with Krista about their Grand Canyon Elopement, that her and Ryan were my kind of people. She literally had a chicken sitting on her lap! I had a cat basically sitting on top of my head the whole conversation. So we really bonded as friends quickly!
They flew in to Phoenix from Houston a few days early to drive up to the Canyon and go exploring the area a bit before the actual ceremony as both of them had never been to the Grand Canyon before. We kept watching the radar and weather because we were SUPER worried! The calendar showed rain on the ONE DAY we had the permit for their ceremony. After chatting with them, they said rain or shine they were going to get hitched that day.
Our plan was to meet up at Moran Point at 6am to watch the sunrise. Little did we know that when we woke up it was going to be SNOWING!!! The first snow of the season! It snowed for several hours before and as we drove up to the parking area. So glad we were all prepared with blankets and warm clothes! Krista and Ryan were SUCH troopers and had so much fun together. We played around with lanterns and they snuggled up together to watch the sun start to rise. It couldn’t have worked out ANY more perfect because it stopped snowing right as the sun was rising so they were able to just sit and enjoy.
After the sun rose we played around taking portraits until we couldn’t feel our appendages anymore lol. They were supposed to go for a helicopter ride over the canyon but because of the wind and snow it had to be moved to the following day so they decided to go back and have a nice nap before getting ready for the ceremony later in the day. We were able to go on the helicopter ride the next day and OMG it was amazing!! Highly recommend Maverick Helicopters!
The weather continued to be cloudy and snowy most of the afternoon so we all pretty much just set our jaws and prepared to freeze during the ceremony. Not even kidding you, after we parked and were getting our gear set up the sun started showing through the clouds. It was incredibly beautiful! You looked out over all of Lipan Point and could see the most beautiful rays of sunshine hitting the rocks and at the same time far off in the distance could see snow clouds!
Their ceremony went beautifully and my face hurt from all the smiling and laughing! Ryan and his blue steel Zoolander impressions had us cracking up ALL day lol. I couldn’t get a bad photo of these two if I tried! Their connection to each other is so fun and lighthearted and I can tell they are going to have a lifetime FULL of laughter together. I am SOOOO incredibly thankful that chose me to come on this adventure with them and document their story! Krista and Ryan, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
