Jake and Shannyn Elope in Marfa

Jake and Shannyn met on Tinder of all places!  She had been on the app for a long time, and had clocked in over 30 first dates that had gone nowhere over a span of two years, and she was his first date (lucky him!).  She volunteered where he works, but they had never crossed paths- so thanks for the app.

They knew they wanted to be a forever thing, but due to the pandemic, changes at work, selling a home and a thousand things going on they waffled on when and how. With no end in sight, they decided to start trying for a family and knew things would fall into place when they were meant to.  After finding out they were expecting in November, he hatched a plan to propose on New Year’s Eve and invited a small handful of people in their pandemic bubble to come over.

With his siblings on a Zoom call, he got down on one knee in their living room and it was sweet. He first handed over a light up ring, then a rose and then finally- THE ring. He couldn’t wait until midnight, and Shannyn says it was absolutely wonderful!

When Jake and Shannyn contacted me about their elopement I was thrilled!  They knew they wanted to Elope in Marfa, Tx for the colorful vibes it offers.   I knew immediately that we had to stay at El Cosmico for all its awesome quirks and colorfulness.  I wanted flowers and details that would match her fabulous hair and boy did my florist Emily with Teal Truck Flowers deliver!

On the day of their elopement it was literally the windiest day I have ever experienced lol.  But it made for some amazing flowy dress photos!  The whole day was super low stress and relaxing which is exactly what they were looking for after a crazy stressful past year.  It was all about them and their love and connection to each other.   After a beautiful tear filled ceremony at the most adorable little chapel in town, they celebrated with cake and Topo Chico’s outside of their yurt with their adorable fur babies Matilda and Joey.   We were also able to use the yoga stage for an incredible first dance.

The night ended with the most incredible view of the stars!  I’m so glad these two chose to Elope in Marfa and will forever be grateful to them for trusting me with their wedding day.
